Moxabustion is a treatment that uses an herb called mugwort.
It may be burned on the handle of a needle, above the skin, on sea salt
or on a slice of ginger. This is used to "warm" the acupuncture points
or in areas of the body to quicken the healing process.
The burning herb never touches the skin, however it's warm
and 'dampness dispelling' effects are known to penetrate and relieve joint
stiffness and pain.
